From The Heart Therapy - Why Therapy

There are many different reasons why people seek the support of a psychotherapist. Some want help with specific emotional problems such as depression, loneliness or anxiety, while others may wish to increase vitality, energy, and overall quality of life. Some may have difficulty coming to terms with past trauma or a painful personal history, while others feel stuck in patterns that prevent them from feeling fulfilled, experiencing authentic connection with others, or finding meaning in their lives. Many people also seek therapy in times of crisis (grief, bereavement, the end of a relationship, rape, abortion, assault, job loss).

Seeing a psychotherapist can be a very rewarding experience. By having a safe, nonjudgmental, private space in which to talk things through, clients often experience improvements in relationships, release from painful emotional/physical symptoms, a greater sense of control and empowerment, a deeper understanding of behaviours and feelings, and an overall improved sense of health and wellbeing.
